Harvest Time
Harvest Time
Life has seasons just like a year has seasons. There is nothing you can do to stop them, hurry them, bypass them or ignore them. Temperatures change, food changes, the lighting changes, everything around you changes. Your clothing choices change, your schedule fluxuates in the seasons as well. The kids are off for summer and then back into school. Fall football gives way to winter sports, or just being bundled up at home avoiding the worst weather.
Everything Changes - Life has a pattern as well. In your youth, you are like the early spring, growing expanding, and creating. The mid point of your life is full of production. They are called the fruit bearing years. You get married and have children, you decide on the working course your life will take, and many small decisions set the path for your future life.
The fall of life is when the decisions you made earlier really begin to bear fruit. If you studied hard and completed college, you may find financial security at this point. If you were an abusive alcoholic, then you will find that the fruit you bear is loneliness and depression.
Our Ministries Impact Our World - We have many who serve the community through prison ministries. For 10 years, men and women have gone weekly into our local jails and prayed with and for the men and women in the local facility. We have couples who have taught troubled youth all around the city. Our bus ministry reaches into the inner city and brings dozens of kids to two services a week, where during our Wednesday night service a team of volunteers creates dinner and serves this needy group. We together have labored in the fields!
Your Opportunity - Opportunities abound for you to get involved. We have small groups that are meeting around the Michianna area that you are invited to be a part of. Rodney Feiler is leading that effort. Children’s ministry always has room for creative individuals to help make kids feel special. Rick Huff would love to hear ideas that you could help fulfill. The youth ministry team needs folks who offer help on a short term basis for fundraising, fun events, or just an ear to hear the struggles of a kid. Isaac and Josh would love to hear from you.
I believe as a church, you can continue keep your hope and life renewed by continually adding life into it. There may be some dormancy as life continues to grow and rebuild, but winter is only preparation for spring. The piling snows translate into fresh water for new growth as life is renewed.
His Harvest - I am looking forward to a harvest of souls continuing to fill Life Tabernacle with families who love God with as much passion and hunger as we have for Him and His word. We have gone through some laborious times, digging up weeds, tilling the soil and preparing our hearts to serve Christ more fully and authentically.
Marci and I believe that we have entered into a harvest time for the Church that is going to continue for an extended period of time. Our new church facility will enable us to minister more effectively and impact the world around us more creatively and realistically than has ever been possible. Pray with me that the Lord of the Harvest would continue to add laborers into the harvest field of Michianna and that those laborers would be rewarded with a harvest of souls to fill the Father’s house with, for Jesus said to go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in. Pray with us and work with us as we continue to compel them to come into His house, that it would be full.
